Both states, Arkansas and Missouri, have a border defined by the Mississippi River which is so wide at the point where the road crosses it at Memphis that it doesn’t look like a river. This creates wide deltas that are unique to these places. Both states have the Ozarks in the west, which are old, soft mountains. Among the most famous parts of old Route 66 passes through Missouri.
